Biography: R. Edward Freeman is interested in the intersection between the ethical standards of managers and successful competitive strategy. His research and work with managers has convinced him that business firms do not pay a price when they create a culture of ethical behavior among their managers. In fact, these firms can gain a competitive edge he has found. He has written widely on ethics and strategy and is Editor of the Ruffin Series in Business Ethics published by Oxford University Press. He is the Olsson Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business, and Director of the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics, University of Virginia.
Jessica Pierce brings her training in religious studies to her work in many aspects of health care and the environment. She has written articles on environmental ethics and its implications for health care, the issue of privacy and hospital records, and the environmental impact of cleaning materials in hospitals. She is an Assistant Professor in the Section on Humanities and Law at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Richard Dodd consults with international firms on major business issues, including environmental strategy. He has also worked with national governments and the European Commission on environmental policy and economics. He is based in London where he is a consultant with A. T. Kearney. He has an MBA from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
